Marecius Samuel is the owner and sole therapist of Breaking Barriers Wellness and Counseling.
Marecius (pronounced Ma-re-kus) has 5 years of counseling experience and has worked with diverse populations. Marecius has worked with children, adolescents, and adults with various mental, behavioral, and substance abuse related diagnoses. Marecius has provided therapy within inpatient psychiatric hospital settings and has previous work experience on Assertive Community Treatment Teams, Community Support Teams, Intensive In-Home, Family-Centered Treatment and Outpatient Therapy (Mental Health and Substance Abuse).
Marecius believes in building a rapport with his consumers organically and is known for his generosity. The motivation behind establishing Breaking Barriers was due to the Barriers that Marecius has had to overcome in his life. Marecius is a testimony for growth, hope, and resiliency. Marecius obtained his Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at North Carolina State University and his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. He is a National Certified Counselor, Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist, Certified Sex Offender Treatment Specialist and Certified Trauma Focused – Cognitive Behavioral Therapist.
Marecius also possesses unique skills to help foster healthy relationships with at-risk youth and ex-offenders seeking motivation, therapy, and guidance.
He’s a “Hip-Hop Head” and African American History enthusiast.
